- Attract the best professionals and rejuvenate the staff, with an average age today of 52 years, among the objectives
The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function today launches through its social media channels the fifth video of the dissemination campaign of talent acquisition for the General Administration of the State (AGE).
The testimony today is that of Lucía Merino de la Nuez, currently working in the Government Delegation in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, under the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Service.
This official, a training lawyer, joined the Superior Corps of Civil Administrators of the State and has developed her work as a public employee defending the interests of her land, the Canary Islands, as an outermost region, in the European Union, demonstrating that also within the Public Service a young person can work for her territory before Brussels.
The campaign, which includes the dissemination of testimonies about their roles as public employees and employees, is part of the Talent Acquisition Plan initiated in 2019 by the Government, with the aim of explaining to the youngest people the possibilities and opportunities offered today by public employment and career development.
Attracting young people to public employment
The objective of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function with this campaign is to encourage those people who are aware of the value of public services and their contribution to the citizens to work in the AGE, through explanations aimed mainly at the youngest people about the job possibilities offered by ministerial departments and their public agencies.
Public employment is also valued in order to convey to young people the pride of working as public servants, contributing their knowledge and professionalism to the service of citizens.
The campaign, launched on April 20, will continue in the coming weeks with the testimonies of different employees and public employees showing through their experience the possibilities offered by public employment, both in Spain and in official representations abroad.
The attraction of talent, to continue offering the best public services, is one of the objectives, as is the rejuvenation of the staff of the AGE, with an average age currently of 52 years, after a period with zero replacement rates in the last decade. Another important fact of the aging of the staff at the service of the AGE is that only 12% are under 40 years old and, at the current rate, in 10 years half of the staff will have retired.
With these objectives, attraction of talent and rejuvenation of staff, the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function organizes informative days in universities, other educational centers and professional colleges to offer a modern image of the AGE, also as an employer, and placing in value the public, which in times of pandemic has shown its importance to face difficult situations while maintaining the best public services.
On April 15, the Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Service, Miquel Iceta, presided over one of these days, the one held at the Carlos III University of Madrid, which for the first time was broadcast on the recently launched Twitch channel of the Ministry, a new way to bring messages closer to the youngest, and will participate again in new days of this nature in the coming weeks.
