The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, co-chaired today the constitutive session of the Local Security Board of Cabanillas de la Sierra together with the mayor of the town, Fernando Tárraga Encantado.
Other members of the government team and representatives of the Civil Guard, the Local Police and the Community of Madrid have also participated in the constitutive session. This body is established under the protection of Royal Decree 1087/2010, which regulates the Local Security Boards, with the aim of facilitating cooperation and coordination in matters of security in the municipality.
This was underlined by the government delegate who thanked the mayor “for the step that Cabanillas is taking today to continue advancing in security in the Community of Madrid, an increasingly safe region”. In such a way that “there are already only four municipalities” that do not have a Local Security Board, a key instrument “for the effective coordination between the state security forces and bodies, the local police, the municipal corporation and also the Government Delegation, in order to work to strengthen security and coexistence in each municipality”.
For his part, the mayor of Cabanillas de la Sierra thanked the government delegate for being present “at this very important event. A start to make a safer and more enjoyable municipality for all of us who live here.”
Engagement in gender-based violence
During the session, the main indicators of criminality of Cabanillas de la Sierra have also been reviewed, which remain in figures well below the regional average. This was highlighted by Martín Aguirre, who said that it is “a very safe municipality, more than 20 points below the average crime rate in the Community of Madrid”.
In this regard, both administrations have committed to continue taking steps in the field of gender violence and “to move forward in the next incorporation of Cabanillas to the VioGén System”, Comprehensive Monitoring System in cases of Gender Violence.
