The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, presided today a meeting that has served to advance the agenda and all logistics around the visit of the Pope to Madrid, scheduled for next June. To this end, the meeting has established an interinstitutional working table with representatives of all the administrations involved.
This meeting was convened by the government delegate due to the lack of response to the missives sent both to the president of the Community of Madrid and to the mayor of the capital requesting the creation of such a table.
Finally, the meeting today was attended by: representatives of the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts; of the Council of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid; of the City of Madrid, and of the National Organizing Committee of the visit and the Local Committee.
In this way, the proposal of the government delegate has materialized, which, he is convinced, “will give its results”. “Being able to coordinate solutions to the various challenges that the Pope’s visit will entail at the logistical, operational and security level is key,” he said, adding that it is the best formula to address the other issues that concern the citizens of the region. “From loyalty and coordination we offer the solutions that the people of Madrid and Madrid need,” he insisted.
Francisco Martín has been confident that loyalty and the will to get things right prevail, and has recalled the extensive experience that the Delegation has in coordinating major events and, in fact, has pointed out that, surely, since the NATO Summit, the Pope’s visit will be the most demanding event that has occurred in the Community, although with a different nature: there will be an important social mobilization throughout the days that he is in Madrid, with different multitudinous events.
