The security mechanism in the face of the possible victory of the Spanish team in the final of the World Cup will have more than 1,450 components of the State Security Forces and Corps between the days of Sunday and Monday, in case of victory.
The operation was coordinated today in a meeting convened and held at the headquarters of the Government Delegation, in which representatives of the National Police, the Civil Guard, Municipal Police, Royal Spanish Football Federation, National Sports Office, Security and Emergency Services of the Madrid City Council, Firefighters, Mobility Agents, Renfe, Metro de Madrid, Municipal Transport Company, Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid, AENA and Barajas Airport participated.
Chaired by the government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, aspects related to the day of the celebration of the final, on Sunday, July 19, have been discussed, as to the subsequent celebrations in case of the victory that would take place on Monday, July 20, and that would contemplate the placement of a stage in the Plaza de Cibeles, official receptions in the palace of Zarzuela and possibly La Moncloa, and a tour with removable buses with the players and the technical staff through the center of the city. This will entail traffic cuts, bus detours and closures of some metro/Renfe stations.
By the day of the final, the National Police will maintain a deployment of more than 500 troops around the Plaza de Cibeles, in anticipation of celebratory rallies. It will include members of the Police Intervention Unit (UIP), Protection and Reaction Unit (UPR), Cavalry, Canine Guides, Subsoil Unit, Mobile Brigade, helicopters, drones and contradrones, and the reinforcement of the Citizen Assistance Group and Operational Response Groups of the District Police Station. On the part of the Civil Guard, 250 agents will have been involved, especially in the airport to which the selection will arrive already in the early morning.
For Sunday, in case of victory, a delegation of half a thousand national police will accompany the delegation and 150 Civil Guard agents will also be deployed, including from the Traffic Group.
Francisco Martín has shown confidence in the triumph of Spain and has assured that all the necessary means and personnel have been put in place so that the celebrations take place in safety conditions for all attendees.
He has also requested the Madrid City Council to provide all the information related to the second screen that he is going to install in the Plaza de Colón so that the details about security in the environment can be finished.
