- The station will serve the extension of the C-4b line, which is currently under construction from Colmenar Viejo to Soto del Real.
- The performance takes place in the old station of Manzanares – Soto del Real, within the Line 102 Madrid – Burgos.
- The project includes the refurbishment of the historic building of the old station, the construction of a cafeteria, new car parks and the improvement of the platforms.
- In parallel, it advances in dozens of performances such as those of Atocha and Chamartín; the duplication of the Pinar section of the Rozas - Las Matas; or the construction of other new stations such as Tres Cantos Norte, Pinto La Tenería or Parla Norte.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has initiated the administrative procedures prior to the beginning of the Construction of the future Soto Sur station, in Soto del Real, with the expropriation procedure of the goods and rights affected. This project, which is part of the plan to expand the railway network of the Community of Madrid, has a budget of 17.6 million euros.
The Soto Sur station will service the extension of the C-4b line from Colmenar Viejo to Soto del Real, currently under construction. It is therefore one of the main actions in Cerca Madrid, which aims to extend the network to serve more populations in the north of the Community, such as Miraflores de la Sierra and Guadalix de la Sierra, in addition to Soto del Real. The performance takes place in the old station of Manzanares – Soto del Real, within the Line 102 Madrid – Burgos.
The project also includes the refurbishment and upgrading of the historic building of the old Soto del Real station to make it a modern, functional and accessible station. Specifically, thanks to these works, this building, built in 1955 and declared Asset of Patrimonial Interest, will be rehabilitated to recover it as a railway station, preserve it and put it in value.
The projected works include various performances, among which stand out:
- Rehabilitation of the historic building respecting its design and original elements. Its exterior will be restored and the interior will be conditioned. In its 412.7m2, distributed on two floors, it will house the lobby, the ticket sales area and the toilets, among other spaces. Its sustainability will also be enhanced with solar energy harvesting and natural ventilation systems.
- Construction of a new building intended for cafeteria and two other small buildings for technical installations.
- Marquees that will cover 80m of the 240m of the length of the platforms.
- Car parking attached to the station with capacity for 513 seats (16 for PMR).
- Urbanization of the complex, new internal roads and replacement of the existing bike path.
- Module of provisional access and control of travelers during the execution of the works, which will allow the early start-up of the station.
Expropriation file
The diseases include expropriation in full control, the imposition of servitude and temporary occupations, locating all the necessary land in soils classified as rural in the municipality of Soto del Real. The total area subject to expropriation in full domain amounts to 26,488 m², while 212 m² will be required for servitude and 3,352 m² for temporary occupations. No cadastrated building is affected as a compensable asset, except from a disused old electrical transformation centre.
The Resolution of the General Directorate of the Railway Sector opens the period of Public Information and summons the owners of the goods and rights affected to the lifting of the records prior to the occupation, which will take place on June 2, 2026.
Continuous impetus to the Madrid Proximity Plan
The extension of the C-4b to Soto del Real and its new Soto Sur station is a strategic action of the Commuter Plan within the chapter of the extension of the network to reinforce the possibilities of sustainable mobility in metropolitan routes.
It is added to the duplication of the Pinar section of Las Rozas - Las Matas, currently under way, or the extension to Illescas (Toledo), in the project phase.
Likewise, the new Soto Sur station is added to those that the Ministry promotes (such as that of Tres Cantos Norte, also of the C-4b, Fuencarral-Malmea or Imperial); those that it already builds (Parla Norte or Pinto La Tenería); or remodela (Alcalá de Henares).
Also to the dozens of actions that it promotes in other areas of the Plan, such as the expansion and reinforcement of platforms and space for travelers of Cerca of the two large nodes, Atocha Cerca and Chamartín.
