The Government Delegation in the Community of Madrid has today observed a minute of silence in memory of the 31-year-old woman murdered for alleged gender violence in Seville la Nueva, whose death was confirmed on July 17 as a result of the aggression suffered last February. The event was chaired by the government delegate, Francisco Martín, and was attended by representatives of the General Administration of the State and staff of the Delegation.
With this gesture, the Government Delegation has expressed its strongest condemnation of this new male murder and has conveyed its support and solidarity to the family, friends and environment of the victim, as well as to his three minor children. It has also reiterated the commitment of all institutions in the fight against gender violence and has called for the involvement of the whole society to prevent and eradicate this violence.
Francisco Martín has described this crime as “truly dramatic” and, therefore, he has once again called on the institutions of Madrid, in particular, to “put an end to the silences, put an end to the hesitations”, and be “forceful against machismo and its fiercest expression, which is gender violence”.
“Only through unity, only through the involvement of all, will we be able to eradicate this barbarity and begin to look at ourselves, with dignity in our faces. Because as long as we do not do everything within our reach, I think we are not worthy of the responsibilities that each of us has,” he added.

In addition, 17 minors have been orphaned by gender violence in Spain so far this year.
