The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid has assured today that the thirteen arrests derived from the operation for vandal acts in the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology are proof that “neither hatred nor violence go unpunished in the streets of Madrid”.
It was during the presentation of the police operation launched after the events that took place on the afternoon of last March 6, when a group of people coordinated access to this faculty wearing dark clothes and hiding their face with masks and clothes. After destroying the cartearía and the furniture they found in their path, altering the normal functioning of the educational center, they displayed a banner in the hall with allusions against the 8M.
Francisco Martín wanted to thank the “extraordinary work” done by the agents, who in a few days obtained results, and has assured that he will continue working “with all the tools of the Rule of Law” to combat those who promote hatred.
Public disorder, damage and crime against fundamental rights
The hooded men violently acceded to the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the UCM, causing various damages, among others, to the furniture and the classroom used by the students for their leisure and which were regularly used by the student associations to plan their activities. In addition, they started various commemorative signage of 8M. After placing a banner in the hall with allusions contrary to feminism, they fled the educational center by different means. This irruption altered the normal functioning of the center, not producing any violent confrontation with any student.
In the investigation carried out, the identification of 19 people involved in these events, 13 older males and six minors, was achieved.
For all these reasons, on 23 March, these thirteen persons were arrested, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of public disorder, damage and crime against fundamental rights, and were subsequently handed over to the competent judicial authority.
