The workers of the Delegation of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, headed by the delegate, Francisco Martín Aguirre, have observed a minute of silence to condemn the latest femicide for alleged gender violence, perpetrated last Saturday in the district of Carabanchel, in Madrid.
The victim is a 21-year-old woman, allegedly killed by her 23-year-old partner. There were previous complaints of gender-based violence against the alleged aggressor.
According to data from the Ministry of Equality, with the confirmation of this case, the number of women killed for alleged gender violence amounts to 19 in 2026, two of them in the Community of Madrid, and to 1,360 since 2003, when these data began to be collected.
Martín Aguirre has lamented this new murder of a “girl of only 21 years at the hands, presumably, of her partner of only 23”. In this sense, he has called for reflection and strengthening the fight against male violence: “We have to multiply our efforts and be absolutely forceful and exemplary in the fight against all male violence. And this is what I once again ask of all the administrations in the Community of Madrid. Maximum strength, strength and effective protection”.
The institutional statement, read by the head of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women, Eva Corrales Melero, recalled the methods of communication that victims have at their disposal, such as telephone 016, online consultations through the email address 016-online@igualdad.gob.es, the WhatsApp channel in the number 600 000 016 and online chat, accessible from the website violenciagenero.igualdad.gob.es, which operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
