The Government Delegation in Galicia joins in expressing regret at the death of Antón Louro Goyanes, who held the position of government delegate in Galicia between April 2009 and April 2011. The government delegate, Pedro Blanco, conveyed to the family the condolences for this loss, highlighting from Antón Louro his humanity and generosity along with the commitment to public service, with Galicia and with his city of residence, Pontevedra. In an event held in Vilaba (Lugo), Pedro Blanco also lamented the loss of Antón Louro as a reference figure of Galician socialism.”
Antón Louro Goyanes was born in Carnota (A Coruña) in 1952. He graduated in Chemistry from the University of Santiago and studied later in business and cultural management. He was a high school teacher until the leap to politics. He was elected a member of parliament in the Parliament of Galicia and a member of the Congress, where he held the seats of the Committees on Culture and Development. After his time in the Government Delegation, he dedicated himself to municipal policy until 2015.
In 2019 he attended in the Delegation an act of tribute on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the inauguration of the headquarters of this organization, in the Plaza de Ourense. In the last tribute organized by the Delegation, which brought together the delegates of the Government of Democracy in the year 2024, he was no longer able to participate for health reasons.
