The deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Pilar Trinidad Núñez, presided today the act of taking possession of the new head of the National Police of the town of Alcobendas-San Sebastián de los Reyes, Commissioner Manuel de los Ríos - Zarzosa Saco del Valle, held at the local National Police Station of the town.
The event was attended by, among other authorities, the mayor of San Sebastián de los Reyes, Lucía Soledad Fernández Alonso; the first deputy mayor of Alcobendas, Marta Martín García; the regional head of National Police Operations of Madrid, José Francisco González García; and other institutional and business and civil representatives of the town.
Pilar Trinidad wanted to highlight that Alcobendas and San Sebastián de los Reyes are cities that together exceed 200,000 inhabitants and concentrate a “first order” business, commercial and services fabric, so the work of the National Police is “essential so that each neighbor and each neighbor can develop their life with tranquility”.
But, in addition, Alcobendas and San Sebastián de los Reyes “are — and must remain — safe cities” and the priority of all institutional actors is to consolidate that security. “Security is not the task of a single actor; it is the result of loyal cooperation that puts citizens at the center and that optimizes resources according to the real needs of the territory,” he stressed.
He also stressed that the National Police is not only a security force, but also “a pillar of the social and democratic rule of law” in which society trusts “for its capacity to respond to crime” and also “for its daily presence —discreet, professional— that guarantees the protection of rights and freedoms.” “That’s why it’s a respected, valued and loved institution,” he added.
Curriculum review of the new commissioner
Commissioner Manuel de los Ríos—Zarzosa Saco del Valle entered the Executive Scale of the National Police in 1994. He is a lawyer with extensive training in citizen security and public order, as well as in investigation and other police aspects.
He has gone through different positions in the Citizen Security Brigades and in the Police Intervention Units (UIP) of Catalonia, the Canary Islands and Madrid. In recent years, as a commissioner, he has been operational head of Barcelona Airport and head of the Police Citizen Security Brigade of Madrid, of which he was accidental head for four months.
