- Unemployment in the region fell by 3.24% compared to February 2025, which represents 9,459 fewer unemployed in the last year.
- With respect to the month of January, the unemployment recorded in the Community of Madrid in February 2026 has risen by 1.33%, while in Spain the increase remains at 0.15%.
- Unemployment has risen compared to the previous month in 11 autonomous communities, headed by the Community of Madrid (3,694 people), Catalonia (2,039 people) and Castilla-La Mancha (1,070 people).
The unemployment recorded in the Community of Madrid in February 2026 has risen by 1.33% compared to January, adding 3,694 more unemployed, reaching a total of 282,283 people.
By sex, female unemployment in the region represents 59.26% of the total, 167,298 women, compared to 40.73% of male unemployment, 114,985 men. By age, unemployment among young people under the age of 25 weighs 7.19 per cent, bringing the total number of unemployed young people to 20,285.
Despite the monthly increase, there was a year-on-year decrease of 3.24%, 9,459 fewer people than a year ago.
In Spain, the increase in unemployment remains at 0.15%
In the whole of Spain, the number of unemployed people registered in the offices of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE), at the end of February, has increased 3,584 people in relation to the month of January (0.15%). Thus, the registered unemployment has stood at 2,442,646, as in the Community of Madrid, the lowest level this month since February 2008.
As of February 2025, unemployment has fallen by 150,803 people (-5.81%).
In seasonally adjusted terms, the registered unemployment fell by 3,718 people.
By economic sectors compared to January, the registered unemployment fell in the Construction sectors by 2,140 people (-1.23%), in Industry 1,122 people (-0.59%) and Agriculture by 575 people (-0.77%). It increases in Services by 1,158 people (0.06%) and, above all, among the collective No Previous Employment by 6,263 people (2.85%).
In terms of gender distribution, female unemployment increased by 4,130 women (0.28%) in relation to the month of January and stood at 1,473,413, its lowest level in this month since 2008. Male unemployment, for its part, stands at 969,233 men, falling by 546 men (-0.06%). Compared to February 2025, male unemployment fell by 61,262 (-5.94%) and female unemployment fell by 89,541 (-4.73%).
According to age, unemployment among young people under 25 years of age rose in February by 8,516 people (4.71%) compared to the previous month. The total number of unemployed young people stands at 189,408, the lowest figure recorded in a month of February in the historical series.
Unemployment by Autonomous Communities
The registered unemployment fell in 6 Autonomous Communities, the largest falls in absolute figures occurring in Andalusia (-2,629 people), the Basque Country (-1,146 people) and the Valencian Community (-1,102 people).
It rises in the remaining 11 communities, headed by Comunidad de Madrid (3,694 people), Catalonia (2,039 people) and Castilla-La Mancha (1,070 people).
