The Office of the Under-Secretary for Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory is responsible for carrying out the functions listed in article 63 of Law 40/2015, of 1 October, on the Legal Regime of the Public Sector, and for the direction, promotion and supervision of the governing bodies, the directly dependent units and the bodies attached.

As the governing body directly attached to the head of the Ministry, the head of the Office of the Under-Secretary for Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory shall be responsible for the ordinary representation of the Ministry, the overall direction, promotion and coordination of the common services of the Department, the exercise of the powers corresponding to those common services, as well as assistance to the head of the Department in the preparation and approval of the action plans of the Department and the public agencies attached.
