The Government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, today made the journey between Atocha and Ciempozuelos on board one of the Cerca trains of the C-3 line to check the progress of the improvement works that are being executed in the infrastructure.
Accompanied by the director of Cerca Madrid, Sonia Ferrero Viñas, and the deputy director of maintenance of ADIF, Eugenio Nasarre Serrano, he has been able to see in this journey the progress of the works that began on February 14 and whose completion is scheduled in May.
Specifically, the works on the C-3 line, in the Chamartín-Aranjuez section consist of the renovation of essential elements of the railway superstructure, mainly in the replacement of sleepers and rails. With an investment of more than 71 million euros, they will strengthen the reliability of the infrastructure and guarantee the regularity of the circulations. In total, 150 kilometers of new lane will be installed, of which more than 90% are destined for the stretch between Atocha and Aranjuez.
Regarding the actions, the delegate stressed that “they are part of a very important project of the Government of Spain to strengthen and improve the network of Neighbourhoods in Madrid. It was a project that had been abandoned for decades and that the Government of Spain He has opted to face with investment, increasing by more than 50% the investment for the modernization and improvement of the Cerca de Madrid network to reach 7.1 billion euros compared to the 5,000 that he had raised in 2018 and that is signifying important works in the network as a whole such as those we see today on line C-3”.
Improvements in the Ciempozuelos station
Upon their arrival in Ciempozuelos, they were received by the mayor of the municipality, Raquel Jimeno Pérez, along with whom they commented on the measures put in place to try to minimize the inconveniences produced by the works of improvement in infrastructure and make the service provided in the C-3 compatible with the works.
In this regard, Francisco Martín said that “the improvements that are going to take place are going to be very significant and are going to involve an improvement in the quality of life of the neighbors who use Proxias” and recalled that “precisely in Ciempozuelos, yesterday we had another great news that is the approval of the tender for the construction of an elevator that improves the accessibility of this station”.
The budget of this tender for the accessibility of the station of Ciempozuelos, integrated in the line C-3, amounts to 1.19 million euros.
