A self-employed professional in the financial and insurance advisory sector, he was elected mayor of Cistierna in 2003, a position he held until June 2023.

Provincial deputy for the judicial party of Cistierna in the Provincial Deputation of León and senator of the Socialist Party (2011-2015).

From July 2019 to August 2023 he has been 2nd Vice-President, Deputy Delegate of Tourism, Spokesperson and Vice-President of the Provincial Tourism Consortium in the Provincial Council of León.

He is general secretary of the Municipal Socialist Group “Carlos Álvarez” of Cistierna and deputy general secretary of the PSL-PSOE from December 2021 to the present.
