Graduated in Geography and History from the University of La Laguna, María Jesús de la Cruz Montserrat has extensive experience in the management of different Canary Islands Public Administrations, as well as in the educational field. She has also worked as a freelancer, as well as a private company worker. María Jesús has dedicated much of her life to politics, starting in 1996 in the Socialist Party and later serving as a councillor in the City of Puerto del Rosario in 1999. This political facet has been accompanied from the beginning by her vocation for education, being a civil teacher since 2009 and exercising between 2011 and 2015 as coordinator in the Insular Direction of Education in Fuerteventura. Years later she will hold her position as Minister of Employment, Education and Youth, and spokesperson for her party at the Cabildo de Fuerteventura (2019/2023).
