- The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, and the mayor of Rivas Vaciamadrid, Aída Castillejo, have analyzed the result of the measures adopted to reduce the rise in conventional crime that occurred last spring
Rivas Vaciamadrid has improved his results in conventional crime by reversing the upward trend he had experienced during the past spring in crimes such as robbery and theft.
In this way it has been possible to corroborate that the measures adopted in the extraordinary Local Security Board that was convened a few months ago, precisely as a result of the detection of the increase in crimes against heritage, are working and giving “good results”, as pointed out today in a delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, at the end of a new Local Security Board of the municipality.
A reading in which he coincided with the mayor of the town, Aída Castillejo, with whom he co-chaired the meeting which was also attended by representatives of the National Police, the Civil Guard, the Local Police and the Community of Madrid. “Compared to the last quarter, so far this has not only managed to paralyze the trend, but to reduce it,” said the mayor.
The measures included an increase in the number of local police officers, who have appointed 14 new officers and 15 more on duty; the reinforcement of the Civil Guard, which has added more than 40 officers; and the implementation of a protocol for the care of victims of theft and robbery, by which municipal lawyers began to appear in cases to request precautionary measures at the beginning of the proceedings. In this regard, the mayor of Rivas has pointed out that the Consistory has been involved in 17 cases and, in 15 of them, some kind of precautionary measure has been obtained (provisional imprisonment, removal orders or definitive imprisonment).
For Francisco Martín, these results demonstrate the suitability of local security boards to address this type of issue and the importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation between security forces and bodies as a key to improving results.
Likewise, he wanted to thank “the commitment and professionalism” of the agents in their work and also highlight the commitment of the City of Rivas Vaciamadrid in the fight against gender violence in view of the evolution of crimes against sexual freedom in the locality. “It goes in a good direction that should inspire other municipalities,” he suggested.
Finally, without wanting to “fall into triumphalism”, he has pointed out the work that still needs to be done in the field of cybercrime and has stressed the usefulness of the implementation of the telematic denunciation in the Civil Guard that is allowing the “dark figure” of this criminal typology to emerge.
