Madrid, March 24, 2026.- The workers of the Delegation of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, headed by the delegate of the Government, Francisco Martín Aguirre, have observed a minute of silence to condemn the latest murders for alleged gender violence in Zaragoza, and for alleged vicarious violence in Alicante.
In Zaragoza, on March 21, a 49-year-old woman was allegedly
Murdered by her ex-partner, 51 years old from 2026. There were no previous complaints of gender-based violence against the alleged aggressor. The victim had a minor daughter and an older son.
In Alicante, a girl of only three years was allegedly murdered on March 20, 2026 by her father, a 40-year-old man and a former partner of her mother. In this case, there were also no previous complaints of gender-based violence against the alleged aggressor.
With the confirmation of these cases, the number of women killed by gender violence amounts to 14 in 2026 and 1,357 since 2003, when these data were first collected. The number of underage people orphaned by gender violence would rise to 11 in 2026 and to 515 since 2013. On the other hand, the number of underage people killed by gender violence in Spain would rise to three in 2026 and 68 since 2013.
