Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of La Laguna, with a specialty in Psychiatry, María Teresa Mayans has developed her professional career in the medical field, both in management and in the care field, focusing her efforts on the humanization of this branch of Medicine, as well as on the struggle for the rights and social integration of the mentally ill, far from any stigmatization.

He was part of the medical team that carried out the reform of psychiatric care in the Canary Islands and his professional field has been focused on management, assistance and teaching, both in the training of resident doctors, and refresher courses for family doctors. He has also been a speaker at various conferences and medical congresses and has participated in the teaching on Gender Violence at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canarias.
His commitment to universal and quality public health, and to teaching as a channel for transmitting experience and knowledge, has led him to develop his career in medical and training, in the conviction that health and education are two fundamental pillars to achieve full and effective social justice.
