He graduated in Law from the University of Granada in 1989 and worked as a lawyer for ten years. From 1999 to May 2004 he was councillor of the City of Baza, and from 2007 to March 2021 he has been mayor of Baza.

He has also been President Mancomunidad municipalities of the Region of Baza from 2007 to 2015 and Provincial Deputy in the Provincial Council of Granada from 2003 to 2004 in the Area of assistance to Municipalities, and from 2015 to the present he has occupied the position of First Vice-President and responsible for the Area of Contracting. Finally, he has also been provincial delegate of Public Works and Transport from May 2004 to April 2007.
