With a degree in Law from the University of La Laguna (ULL) and a career officer from the Technical Scale of General Administration of Local Administration, Carlos García Méndez has held several functions in the Cabildo de La Palma since 2006 in the Departments of Social Action, Presidency and Tourism, occupying, among others, the Department of Service of the Tourism Area, the Secretariat of the Sectoral Council of Tourism and the Technical Coordination of the Tourist Interest Centers of the island of La Palma.

The island director in La Palma, who has also worked in the Mayor’s Office of the City of Santa Cruz de La Palma between 2004 and 2006, occupied from May 2023 until his appointment the Head of Service in the Support Unit for the Environmental Organ of La Palma, in the Area of Natural Environment, Ecological Transition and Climate Change of the Cabildo de La Palma, developing, therefore, the Secretariat of the Environmental Commission of La Palma.
