Compensation for Royal Decree-Law 6/2026 of 3 March on recognition of persons who have died or suffered incapacitating injuries because of their activity in defence and demand for democracy
Main developments
In particular, this Royal Decree-Law introduces the following innovations:
Extension of the time period of the causative events
Until now, only the facts produced between the 1 January 1968 and 31 December 1977.
With the amendment introduced by Royal Decree-Law 6/2026, this period is extended to the December 29, 1978.
Updating and equalization of compensation amounts
A procedure is established for the compensation and updating of the amounts already received, equating them with other homologable regimes.
The amounts are fixed at:
250,000 euros in case of death.
180,000 euros in case of absolute permanent incapacity.
500,000 euros in case of major incapacity.
Applications may be submitted by as many people as possible. they would not have previously received compensation, as by those who request it compensation or updating of amounts already received.

Applications may be submitted, both by persons who they would not have previously received any compensationas for those who have received compensation, based on Royal Decree 1803/2008, of 3 November, and now request compensation or updating of amounts already received.

Where and how should I present it?
If you have a digital certificate:
You can submit the documentation through the General Electronic Registry of the General State Administration Available at the following link:
When the aforementioned registry asks you “Code and name of the agency or entity” enter the following E05080301 and select the General Directorate of Victim Care.
If you do not have a digital certificate:
You can send the documentation in any of the records provided for in article 16-4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, of the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
How long do I have a deadline to submit the documentation?
As established in Royal Decree-Law 6/2026, the deadline for submitting applications ends on March 5, 2027.
