Francisco Martín has highlighted the work of the social entity that is serving about 1,000 potential beneficiaries a day from its headquarters in Madrid.
The government delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, visited today the headquarters of the Spanish Refugee Assistance Commission (CEAR) in the district of Tetouan, a social entity that offers assistance to migrant populations in the process of extraordinary regularization.
Together with the general director of CEAR, Mónica López Martín, and the coordinator of the Delegation of Madrid, Francisco Garrido, he has verified how information and advice are provided to potential beneficiaries in relation to issues such as enabling requirements or necessary supporting documentation, helping them to properly complete the application.
In this way, since the beginning of the process on April 16, the team of professionals of the social entity is serving about 1,000 people a day at its headquarters in Madrid. The government delegate thanked him for his work and stressed that the work of CEAR and the other social entities involved serves “to give dignity, rights and justice” to migrants, and is “an initiative absolutely demanded by Spanish and Madrid civil society, by the economic sectors and even by the Catholic Church itself.”
For her part, the general director of CEAR has celebrated “this key moment in migration policy” and has valued that “it is one of the regularization processes with greater social support, promoted and claimed by civil society. However, he stressed “the need to incorporate, in a structural way in the law on foreigners, mechanisms that facilitate access to work and residence permits.” Finally, he stressed that “a large number of people are being cared for in a climate of normality and without incidents”.

CEAR is one of the more than 240 entities included in the Register of Collaborators of Foreigners (RECEX), formed by social entities and unions accredited to advise and accompany throughout the process, being one of the authorized ones to carry out, among other things, vulnerability certificates in order to complete the process of extraordinary regularization of migrants approved by the Government last Tuesday in the Council of Ministers.
