- The region recorded a year-on-month increase of 1.2% in March, adding 8,084 new members to the system.

The Social Security has registered in the Community of Madrid 635,826 foreign affiliates on average in March, after adding 32,226 affiliates in the last 12 months, which means an increase of 5.34%. In month-on-month terms, growth was 1.29% compared to February, with 8,084 new affiliates.
Of the total, 52.71% (335,144) are men, while 47.29% (300,679) are women. As for the countries of origin, the distribution resembles the national panorama with 30.56% (194,325) coming from countries of the European Union while 69.44% (441,501) come from outside the European Union.
By contribution system, 79.47% (505.301) contribute to the General Social Security System. For its part, the number of foreign self-employed members in the region in March stood at 79,393 workers, 12.49% of the total. As for the Special System of Household Employees, it represents 7.88% with 50,082 members from other countries.
New record of foreign affiliates
At the national level, March has set a new record for foreign affiliates both in seasonally adjusted terms and in average affiliation. Discounting the effect of the calendar, Social Security already has 3,210,759 foreign affiliates, after adding 234,685 in the last 12 months.
Overall, the number of foreign affiliates has totaled more than 852,000 employed since March 2022. In fact, 42.9% of the employment created since the implementation of the labor reform corresponds to foreign workers. The year-on-year variation of this group is 7.9% when the effect of the calendar is discounted, well above 2.5% of the general affiliation.
In terms of average affiliation, the March registration marks 3,151,563 employed, 230,358 more than in the same month of 2025 and 74,722 occupied more than the previous month. The more than 635,800 registered in the Community of Madrid, would represent 20.17% of the collective nationwide.
Of the total, there are 1.8 million men, while the number of women approaches 1.4 million. The presence of working women from other countries is increasing overall and represents 43% of the total number of foreign workers.
In terms of origin, about 30% of foreign affiliates come from countries of the European Union. By country, Morocco continues to be the country with the most social security affiliates, with 387,584 contributors, followed by Romania (343,003), Colombia (264,236), Venezuela (218,337), Italy (208,174), China (126,998), Peru (105,223) and Ukraine (80,256). Of these nationalities, the increase in Venezuelan affiliates stands out, which total more than 20% in the last year, followed by Peruvians, 18.7% and Colombians, 17.7%.
Although they account for 14.4 per cent of all workers, the contribution of foreign workers is particularly relevant in some sectors of the General Social Security System. In Hospitality, they represent 29.1% of the members; in Agriculture, 26.9%; in Construction, they represent 24.3%; in Transport, 17.6%; and in Administrative Activities, 17.5%. In addition, in the Special Household System, they account for 42.3% and in the Agrarian System, 39.4%.
In addition, there are already more than half a million self-employed workers with non-Spanish nationality, specifically 506,067. Its growth in the last 12 months is especially significant, since it stands at 6.3%, when the total number of members of the Autonomous System rises by 1.2%. We must point out the growing presence of foreign workers who undertake in highly qualified sectors such as Telecommunications and Computer Programming, where they already represent 31.7% of the employed persons registered in this section of activity, that is, they are already one in three entrepreneurs.
