The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports has awarded Asturias 27.7 million euros for Vocational Training for working people. This has been agreed with the autonomous communities within the Sectoral Conference on Vocational Training held today at the headquarters of the Ministry, where the distribution of 867 million euros among the autonomies for that program has been approved.
Of the total, Asturias will receive 22.2 million euros for training offer initiatives for unemployed workers and 4.6 million for training actions for employed workers. To this is added 794,730 euros for extraordinary actions of the Vocational Training for Employment system taught through the public network of training centers, both for unemployed and occupied people. These actions aim to promote qualification, requalification and the development of lifelong learning pathways. Between 2021 and 2023, more than 780,000 unemployed people and more than 200,000 employed people have participated in this type of training actions in the autonomous communities as a whole. Thanks to them, about 314,000 unemployed people joined the labour market and more than 52,000 employed people improved their professional situation.
With this new investment, corresponding to the year 2026, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to Vocational Training as a tool to improve the qualification of working people, respond to the needs of productive sectors and open new opportunities for employment and progress.
The distribution validated today by the Sectorial Conference was approved by the Council of Ministers on May 12, along with the distribution of more than 329.2 million euros to the autonomous communities for the promotion of six educational support programs.
