The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has defended the commitment of the Government of Spain to the region as demonstrated by the investment figures that he has exposed today during the presentation of the accountability report of the Government of Spain, as of July 2026. “The Government of Spain has never failed him and will never fail Madrid,” he said.
“On the contrary, the government of Pedro Sánchez protects, activates and promotes the present and future of our region, despite all the obstacles. The government protects citizens in their daily lives and also, as we have just seen, when situations are extreme,” he said.
The most recent example of the Government’s commitment to protection with the Community of Madrid has been the declaration of the National Emergency for the fires that affected the provinces of Madrid, Ávila and Toledo. Francisco Martín insisted that this event makes it clear that interinstitutional collaboration is “key to building effective solutions”.
Another fact that confirms the will to protect Madrid and the citizens of Madrid are the crime data in the region, the lowest in the historical series, and the maximum number of agents, 10% more than in 2018, with an increase above the population growth. In addition, it has invested in improving the material conditions of the State Security Forces and Corps.
Regarding the issue of security, the government delegate wanted to warn that the current social emergencies in certain parts of the region cannot be resolved only from a police perspective, so he has once again called for the involvement of the regional and municipal administrations to address them from a comprehensive perspective that includes health, education and social aspects. In this regard, it has again called for the participation of its representatives in the tripartite tables that have been proposed to try to find integral solutions. “Security is built with social cohesion,” he said.
On the other hand, the government delegate has reiterated his request that the new Law on Public Spectacles and Recreational Activities be designed in such a way that it is an effective instrument to face with guarantees the organization of large events that are increasingly frequent in the Community of Madrid.
Activation of the economy and employment
The policies of the Government of Spain also activate the economy and employment. “We are a capital region of a Spain that advances like never before and drives the present through the process of modernization and transformation of our economy and our productive system, the most ambitious we have ever faced, orienting Madrid, finally, towards the future,” he said.
In fact, in the years of socialist government, the commitment to Madrid has “multiplied with that of the predecessor executives” and it is going to continue “moving in the same direction, with more determination if possible, no matter who it is”, in the words of the government delegate.
European funds
In this positive economic path, they have had much to do with the support of European funds, whose results “are reflected in our streets, companies and self-employed workers”. The Community of Madrid has been allocated 10,302 million euros for the deployment of investments of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan in its areas of competence.
A total of 6,544 million euros of the Plan have been resolved by the General Administration of the State in the Community of Madrid and 3,758 million euros have been allocated in sectoral conferences, and 242,841 companies, institutions and citizens have benefited directly through the European Next Generation Funds.
Commitment to the Welfare State

Funding has been provided for the recruitment of 656 assistant professors, with an investment of 170 million euros over 6 years through the María Goyri Program.
Through the State Research Agency, there are 160.7 million euros for 788 research projects and 261 predoctoral contracts in Madrid.
Likewise, 174,407 Madrileños and Madrileñas are beneficiaries of a scholarship for studies from the Government of Spain, with an investment of 313 million euros.
Housing
Likewise, the Government of Spain remains “committed” to the application of the Housing Law in all territories. In the case of the Community of Madrid, since 2018 more than 1,400 million euros have been invested with which the construction and rehabilitation of more than 50,858 homes has been promoted.
These homes are distributed mainly through three investment programs: Recovery Plan, State Housing Plans 2018-2021 and 2022-2025 and SEPES’ performance of Operation Camp. Specifically, the construction of 15,817 homes and the rehabilitation of 35,041 have been mobilized.
Greater renditions on account of the story
The Spanish Government promotes the present of Madrid, but, above all, it is building its future: €4.396 billion to modernise the Cerca network; €1.5 billion to digitise Madrid; €170 million to hire 656 teaching assistant doctors in public universities; and €237.1 million to advance the decarbonisation of our economy.
The Community of Madrid will receive in 2026 the largest deliveries on account of its history with 22,007 million euros, 7.3% more than in 2026. To this amount must be added the settlement of 2024, bringing the total to 23,153 million euros, 9% more.
This increase in regional funding will continue in 2027, when the Community of Madrid will receive a new record figure with 23,944 million euros, 8.5% more than this year, amounting to 25,580 million euros with the liquidation forecast of 2025.
Thanks to this, the Community of Madrid has “more resources than ever at its disposal to strengthen public services”, he stressed.
Regional Pacts
Finally, Francisco Martín has proposed three pacts to the Government of the Community of Madrid: against male violence, for social emergencies and for security in major events. In this regard, he has once again “reached out” so that we can work together “beyond emergency situations”.
And, on the latter, he has urged the government of the Community of Madrid to support the State Pact against the Climate Emergency proposed by the president of the Government and to take “one step to the side” in the direction it was leading, move away from the deniers and work in the fight against the climate emergency, starting with strengthening fire prevention and extinguishing services, instead of having less effective this campaign than in the previous one.
