The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco presided today in A Coruña the central act of commemoration of the Private Security Day, in which he claimed the collaboration of men and women working in this sector for the consolidation of Galicia as the second safest community in Spain. The delegate shared with companies and vigilantes, private detectives, rural and fishing guards and private escorts the position that the Autonomous Community has renewed together with the Security Bodies and Forces. He reminded all of them that this position “has the added responsibility of continuing to work with the same effectiveness and collaboration.”
The event of the Private Security Day of Galicia, which took place at the Teatro Colón in A Coruña, was held in coincidence with the celebration of this day at the national level. It was attended by the Superior Chief of Police of Galicia, Pedro Pacheco, the Chief General of the 15 Zone of the Civil Guard, Miguel Ángel González; the President of the Association of Security Companies of Galicia, Roberto Lage; the territorial delegate of the Xunta in A Coruña, Belén do Campo; the Councilor for Citizen Security of A Coruña, Montserrat Paz.
A central part of this commemoration was the delivery of honorable mentions to men and women in the Private Security sector of Galicia, and which are proposed by the Superior Police Headquarters and the Area of Galicia of the Civil Guard. This year more than 90 men and women from different sectors were honored, either for their trajectory of cooperation with the police forces or for a meritorious performance in the last year.
Among these mentions, an acknowledgement was made to the A Coruña watchman Luis Paz, who acted when he was off duty to protect an elderly person who was suffering a robbery with violence.
Pedro Blanco meant that more and more women are receiving these mentions, which shows “how women are adding up spaces in a hitherto markedly masculine sector.” In this regard, the delegate called on companies “to promote the incorporation of more female profiles into their workforce, in order to achieve in them the same representativeness that women have in the population as a whole”.
To this reflection, Pedro Blanco added the gratitude of the citizens of Galicia and the Government to the whole of Private Security for its commitment to the maintenance of citizen security and in the protection of the forest and fishing resources of the Community.
