The Council of Official Languages in the General Administration of the State was created by Royal Decree 905/2007, of 6 July, as an interministerial collegiate body dedicated to the analysis, promotion and coordination of the policy of the General Administration of the State in relation to the use of the official languages of the Autonomous Communities, with the aim of seeking a better attention to the linguistic rights of citizens.
The Office of Official Languages, created in article 8 of the aforementioned Royal Decree, is configured as a “permanent unit of assistance and support to the Council”, dedicated to the “study, promotion, advice, planning and verification of the use of official languages, both in the central services and in the peripheral structure of the General Administration of the State”.
