The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, underlines the commitment of MUFACE in the fight against male violence by betting on the implementation of a Violet Point, "a fundamental tool for raising awareness and supporting victims". It did so during the presentation of this instrument promoted by the Ministry of Equality at the MUFACE facilities in Ourense.
At the event, Eladio Santos thanked the provincial director of MUFACE, Laura Velázquez, for her involvement in turning the headquarters of this public body "into a safe place for women". He was also accompanied by the head of the Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Subdelegation in Ourense, Alida Iglesias, who offered MUFACE staff the necessary training to inform and care for victims.
The subdelegate highlighted "the important extension" of the network of Violeta Points to support women victims in the province of Ourense, since with this incorporation there are already a dozen adhered agencies. Apart from MUFACE, the State Employment Service (SEPE), the National Social Security Institute (INSS), the Tax Agency (AEAT), the Pereiro de Aguiar Penitentiary Center, the Civil Guard Command, the Paradores de Santo Estevo and Verín, the headquarters of UGT Ourense and the Government Subdelegation in Ourense have the resource.
Eladio Santos stressed the need to bet on more resources to give visibility and prevent male violence, "which unfortunately remain a serious problem on the agenda." For this reason, he urged "to make every effort from institutions, administrations and the whole of society to eradicate gender violence."
Tool of the Ministry of Equality
The Violeta Point is an instrument promoted by the Ministry of Equality to involve the whole of society in the fight against male violence and to extend the necessary information to know how to act in a case of violence against women. It is part of the catalogue of urgent measures of the Improvement and Modernization Plan promoted by different ministries of the Government of Spain and represents a change of focus in public policies of attention to victims, placing male violence as a structural problem that requires the involvement of the whole of society to put an end to it.
The Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Subdelegation in Ourense provided the necessary training to implement the Violet Point in MUFACE. In addition, the following materials were provided: the Violet Point Guide to act against Male Violence; badges to identify the people involved; informative brochures to distribute and posters and stickers with a QR code linked to the Violet Point Guide, which aim to point out that this space is a safe place for victims.
