Cercedilla has today revised the security plan for the Cercedilla patron saint’s festivities that are celebrated from September 6 to 11 in honor of Our Lady of the Nativity.
It details the organization and coordination of the human and material resources that will be deployed during the planned events and that involve local police forces, reinforcement of the Civil Guard, volunteers of the Civil Protection Group and health services.
The device has been coordinated today in the Local Security Board co-chaired by the Government’s sub-delegate to the Community of Madrid, Pilar Trinidad Núñez; and the Mayor of Cercedilla, David J. Martín Molpeceres, and in which members of the municipal government team, representatives of the Civil Guard, Local Police, Civil Protection and Community of Madrid have also participated.
The patronal festivities in honor of Our Lady of the Nativity will take place from September 6 to 11, and the two locations where the performances will be concentrated will be the available space on the parking lot of the Plaza Nueva and the
Exhibition Centre next to this one. In these places, high concentrations and flow of people are expected, which is the most relevant risk of those that can occur and that has been contemplated in the operation.
Pilar Trinidad has highlighted the “solid previous coordination work” that evidences the design of the operation and has wanted everything to run without incident. He also praised the decision of the City Council to once again dispense, for the second consecutive year, with the fireworks show due to the risk of fires and the dramatic episode experienced in the Sierra Oeste of the region as a result of the fire.
Security situation
With regard to the security situation, the decrease in infractions against heritage during the first months of the year has been highlighted, which allows the crime rate of the municipality as of March 2026 to be established at 38.2 points, well below the average of the Community of Madrid (55.2) according to the Crime Balance of the Secretary of State in March 2026.
The subdelegate of the Government has highlighted the “very good evolution in crime data” and recognizes the work of the Civil Guard in the entire mountain area that makes these figures possible.
