Legislative areas covered in IMI
In a single IMI system, the cooperation needs of various legislative areas related to the EU internal market are met.
The IMI was launched in February 2008 in support of the directive on the recognition of professional qualifications, and since December 2009 it has applied to the exchange of information in accordance with the provisions of chapter VI of the D. on services.
Subsequently, the system has been modified to make it easily adaptable to other areas and an EU regulation on IMI has been adopted that establishes a solid legal basis for its expansion to new areas. As a result of these efforts, the system applies to a growing number of areas listed below, which are constantly evolving.
Each of the legislative areas incorporated into IMI can make use of one or more modules.
