More than 1,000 members of the National Police will participate in the security mechanism planned for the Fairs and Festivities of San Bartolomé de Alcalá de Henares, which will be held from August 21 to 30.
The Subdelegate of the Government to the Community of Madrid, Pilar Trinidad, co-chaired today with the Mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Judith Piquet, the Extraordinary Local Security Board in which the planning and coordination of security devices for the holidays has been addressed.
Representatives of the National Police, Civil Guard, Local Police, Civil Protection and the various services involved in the device have participated in the meeting, with the aim of coordinating the resources and actions planned and ensuring the normal development of the celebrations.
The National Police plans to deploy approximately 900 Citizen Security personnel, distributed throughout the ten days of celebration. They will be joined by around 130 personnel from other units of the National Police, who will carry out research, prevention and surveillance, among other functions.
The device will have a reinforcement of the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) on those days and time slots in which, depending on the risk assessment and the expected influx, a greater police presence is required.
The Citizen’s Care Group will maintain the regular radio show service during the morning, afternoon and evening slots, ensuring that its numbers are not reduced, to ensure attention to the other incidents that may occur in the municipality regardless of the specific device of the parties.
The Civil Guard will also strengthen its presence during the festivities, especially through the Traffic Group, which will intensify controls on the tracks of its competition, with special attention to alcohol controls, to reinforce road safety during the celebrations.
Civil Protection will also make available to the device a wide deployment of human and material resources to meet the needs that may occur during the different events and contribute to the coordinated response to possible incidents.
Among the measures planned, the National Police will carry out checks at the exit of the Alcalá de Henares-Central Commuter Station during the evening and night bands to prevent access for people carrying dangerous objects. He will also participate, together with the Local Police, in the surveillance and control of the accesses to the Plaza de Cervantes and the fairgrounds especially during weekends and in afternoon and evening hours.
Operational Coordination Centre
In addition, an Operational Coordination Center (CECOR) will be installed, in which a National Police and a Local Police officer will remain permanently to coordinate the joint action of both bodies and facilitate an immediate response to any incident.
A mobile Office of Complaints and Attention to the Citizen (ODAC) will also be set up in the fair itself, which will allow complaints to be received and police actions to be carried out without having to travel to the police premises.
Before finishing the Board, the Government’s deputy delegate wanted to thank the whole municipality of Alcalá de Henares and, especially, Civil Protection, for their solidarity and collaboration during the fire in the Sierra Oeste. Pilar Trinidad stressed that the response to that emergency “has shown that we know how to act jointly and in a coordinated manner when the situation requires it”.
