The Government delegate in Asturias, Adriana Lastra, presided on Tuesday the balance meeting of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments, in which 87% of schools in the Principality of Asturias participated during this past academic year 2025-2026.
The meeting was attended by the director of the Area of the High Inspection of Education of the Government Delegation, José Antonio Fernández Espina; the head of the Coordination Unit against Violence on Women of the Government Delegation, Verónica Fernández; the general director of Educational Inclusion and Planning of the Ministry of Education, María Dolores Bueno; and representatives of the National Police and the Civil Guard.
The delegate described as “very satisfactory” the implementation of this initiative of the Ministry of the Interior, which has reached 350 Asturian centers, consolidating itself as an effective tool in the promotion of coexistence, risk prevention and improvement of security.
A total of 2,108 talks and training activities were held by 43 officers from the National Police and the Civil Guard, and 82,555 students were reached.
The assessment of the participating centers has also been positive. The average score obtained by the Master Plan amounts to 3.8 points out of 4, and almost all also express their intention to participate again in the academic year 2026-2027, which confirms the consolidation of the program as a useful tool and fully integrated in the educational action.
MOST DEMANDED ACTIVITIES
Among the topics most demanded by the participating educational centers are clearly those related to the risks associated with the use of information and communication technologies, cybersecurity and the prevention of bullying and cyberbullying.
Activities focused on the prevention of alcohol and drug use, violence against women and gender cyberviolence, road safety, nature protection and the prevention of hate crimes and discrimination have also been in high demand.
This distribution highlights the concern of the educational community for the emerging risks in the digital environment and for the promotion of a safe and respectful coexistence inside and outside the centers.
Together with the training talks and the monitoring of school environments, the Master Plan has developed a wide range of complementary actions that have garnered a particularly outstanding participation.
Visits to police and Civil Guard units, exhibitions of specialized units and the educational program “Club of Secrets” have been consolidated as some of the activities with greater follow-up and interest on the part of educational centers.
In addition, professional guidance actions and meetings with management teams and teachers have helped to bring the work of the State Security Forces closer to the educational community and to reinforce the preventive, formative and coexistence nature inspired by the Master Plan.
