- The Board carries out the activity of executing the urban planning and assumes the responsibility of the Municipality for the realization of the urbanization works
- Another essential step to turn the old military facilities into a life project for thousands of people
- Casa 47 has promoted this urban initiative as owner of 98% of the land that will house 10,700 homes
This morning the Compensation Board of the residential performance ‘Nuevo Barrio Camp’ was constituted as a notary, where 10,700 affordable homes will be built.
The event was attended by the president of Casa 47, Leire Iglesias, the councilor president of the district of Latina, Alberto González, on behalf of the Madrid City Council - due to its nature as an urban control body - and the private owners who have decided to join.
Casa 47 has promoted this initiative as owner of 98% of the land, which has already been definitively approved by the Madrid City Council, and over the last few months has offered the rest of the owners the possibility of joining it.
The Board carries out the activity of executing the urban planning by legal attribution and assumes the responsibility of the Municipality for the realization of the urbanization works.
The constitution of the Compensation Board has the character of a founding assembly and is a decisive fact in the development of ‘Nuevo Barrio Camp’, constituting the figure that will manage the necessary technical actions and guarantee the equitable distribution of the benefits of urban development and the loads, such as the costs of urbanization, among the owners.
An urban project that “makes neighborhood”
‘Nuevo Barrio Camp’ is the most important public urban regeneration action at the state level, with more than 211 hectares that will house more than 10,700 affordable homes in the southwest of Madrid.
The president of Casa 47, Leire Iglesias, celebrated that “This milestone is another clear step in the determination to rebuild the former military units instead of hosting the project of life for thousands of people. As of today, there is an entity collaborating with the administration on behalf of all the owners dedicated exclusively to executing the works of this new neighborhood.”
The urbanization project of ‘Nuevo Barrio Camp’ includes the fundamental principles of an urbanism in line with the strategic objectives of the Spanish Urban Agenda, generating more friendly, welcoming and safe areas of coexistence.
The houses will be built on 25% of the available land, the remaining 75% will be for public uses: facilities, streets, spaces for enjoyment for citizens and green areas.
‘Nuevo Barrio Camp’ will become part of the state park for affordable housing on a permanent basis. A park managed by the state housing entity, which will act in the entire residential cycle: from the disposition and urbanization of the floors to the construction, delivery of keys and management of the homes, with the objective of guaranteeing access to a decent housing for all citizens.
