Pedro Blanco calls to continue to extreme the precautions before the extension of AEMET notices in Galicia for the rest of the week
The delegate traveled this morning to the Delegation of the State Meteorological Agency in A Coruña to monitor the impact of the Joseph burdock.
The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, reiterated today the request for caution to the citizens before the evolution of the weather forecasts for the coming days, which prolong the warnings issued by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) for the Galician Community. Pedro Blanco traveled this morning to the headquarters of the Delegation in Galicia of the AEMET, in A Coruña, to review with the delegate of the AEMET, Francisco Infante, and the team of professionals of the Agency the impact of the borrasca Joseph in Galicia and the evolution of the predictions for the coming hours. There he was accompanied by the deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, Julio Abalde, with whom he toured the facilities of the building of the Observatory of A Coruña.
Pedro Blanco acknowledged the work of the professional men and women of the AEMET in this succession of borrascas that are having a great impact in Galicia. He recalled that the AEMET is responsible for issuing warnings about extreme weather phenomena in a territory. These warnings are those that, subsequently, the Civil Protection authorities use to declare alerts to the population. “A procedure that is possible because of the close collaboration that all the administrations involved maintain,” stressed the delegate, “as is being seen in these days.”
He also recalled that the CH Mi⦅⦆ -Sil provides the real-time data of the more than 50 measuring stations that are located in the basins of the Miño, Sil and Limia rivers. In addition, the Government Delegation participates in the meetings of the Evaluation Unit of the General Directorate of Civil Protection, which is activated in the face of this succession of adverse phenomena throughout Spain.
The delegate reiterated the disposition of the state media to the regional, provincial and local authorities to deal with the effects of these adverse phenomena in Galicia.
Finally, Pedro Blanco reminded the population of the importance of frequently consulting official and verified sources to anticipate any change in the situation of time and follow the recommendations of the authorities.
