Alcobendas will have a large device, composed of more than 250 troops, to guarantee security in the Festivities of San Isidro 2026 that are held in the municipality of Madrid from May 14 to 17.
The special operation has been supervised in the Local Security Board co-chaired today by the Government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, together with the mayor of the town, Rocío García-Alcántara; with the participation of representatives of the Municipal Corporation, of the Community of Madrid, of the Civil Guard, Local Police, National Police, Firefighters, Emergencies and Civil Protection.
The plan provides for the coordinated mobilization of more than 250 troops, including 100 Local Police officers, 90 National Police officers, as well as 60 Civil Protection volunteers. A deployment that will prioritize multitudinous events, such as concerts and pyrotechnic shows, reinforcing surveillance in key points such as the fairgrounds and urban parks. Among other measures, access controls, capacity controls and surveillance with drones and video cameras will be carried out.
The police operation will also include the presence of the Canine Unit, with dogs specialized in drug detection; the PUMA group; and agents trained to prevent situations of harassment of women during the holidays and intervene in possible cases of male violence. In addition, to prevent the loss of children, identification bracelets will be provided to families.
Respect and institutional loyalty
The Board also took stock of last year’s crime data that maintain Alcobendas as “a safe municipality within the framework of an increasingly safe Community of Madrid”, according to the Government delegate.
In this context, Martín Aguirre wanted to “thank and acknowledge the good work of the Local Police in coordination with the National Police. Also the respect and institutional loyalty shown by this council and its mayor to be able to work together in favor of the neighbors of Alcobendas.”
