La Seguridad Social tramitó en el primer semestre 2026 un total de 40,914 benefits for childbirth and childcare. From the set, 19.245 corresponded to first parent, usually the mother, and 19.888 to second parent, usually the father.
The cost of birth and child care allowance between January and June reached more than 439 millions of euros.
by autonomous communities, Madrid, is the third Community with the highest number of benefits for birth and child care (40,914) after Andalusia (45,809) and Catalonia (44,771).
La average of the active benefits for birth and child care in 2026 was DE 110.93 days on average in Madrid, similar to the national average. The duration of the same is approaching between men and women, they reach, on average, 112.66 days, which is almost a day lower than last year, while men go up by one and a half days reaching 110.39. Extension of the birth permit
