Villanueva de la Cañada advances in its incorporation into the integral system of monitoring and protection of victims of gender violence VioGén with the signing of the “Protocol of collaboration and coordination between the State Security Forces and the Local Police Forces for the protection of victims of domestic and gender violence”, signed by the Ministry of the Interior and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, on March 13, 2006.
The signing took place at the Local Security Board held today, co-chaired by the Government’s deputy delegate to the Community of Madrid, Pilar Trinidad Núñez, and the mayor of the municipality, Luis Manuel Partida Brunete. The head of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women, Eva Corrales Melero, as well as representatives of the Civil Guard, the Local Police and the Community of Madrid, have also attended.
In addition to the protocol of collaboration, during the meeting the Operational Procedure of Collaboration and Coordination between the Civil Guard and the Local Police of the municipality has been signed, and the Police Coordination Table has been constituted, completing the necessary procedures to formalize the adhesion of the municipality to the VioGén system.
In the words of the subdelegate of the Government, “today we have begun these administrative procedures by which Villanueva de la Cañada is going to join VioGén, which means that the Local Police is going to be in charge of the supervision and accompaniment of some of the victims, those of lower risk. It’s good news for everyone and I can only thank the mayor, the local Corporation, the Local Police and the Civil Guard.”
Currently, there are already 56 municipalities in Madrid that are in the VioGén system (47 fully integrated and 9 with the procedure initiated).
