Aranjuez will have a specific security plan with additional organizational and operational measures that seek to consolidate the recovery of crime levels prior to the rebound experienced in the municipality in the first half of 2025, which began to stabilize in the second half of the year and have continued on this path so far in 2026.
This has been announced by the delegate of the government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, at the end of the Local Security Board held today in the municipality that has co-chaired with the mayor of the Real Sitio and Villa de Aranjuez, Miguel Gómez Herrero, and that has had the participation of representatives of the National Police, the Local Police, the municipal team and the Community of Madrid.
The plan will be announced in the coming weeks, after a thorough analysis of the problems detected, and will complement the measures implemented in a coordinated way between the National Police and the Local Police in recent months and which are already giving results that translate into a return to the levels of crime prior to the increase.
Francisco Martín thanked the mayor for convening this extraordinary session of the Local Security Board as a means to address immediately and in a coordinated manner the security problems detected and to search for solutions. Among them, in order to deal with vehicle thefts and other crimes against property perpetrated by repeat offenders, we have also chosen to go to court and explore more alternatives from the municipal legal services.
However, the government delegate wanted to highlight that, despite the upturn, Aranjuez remains a safe municipality in a region that is increasingly safe and that has historical lows in its crime rate.
The expressed desire has been to be able to recover “the green” in the crime figures of the municipality in the rest of the year 2026 and consolidate that reversion that has already been pointed out in the first months of the year.
