The number of unemployed people registered in the offices of the public employment services of the Community of Madrid decreased by 2,733 people during the month of June, which is a drop of 1% compared to the previous month. The total number of unemployed people in the Community of Madrid stands at 269,809, the lowest figure recorded in a month of June since 2008.
In year-on-year terms, the registered unemployment fell by 4,929 people, 1.79% less than in June 2025. The Community of Madrid recorded the third largest fall in unemployment in absolute terms among the Spanish provinces, only behind Cadiz and Malaga. Madrid thus joins the positive evolution of the whole country, where the registered unemployment has fallen by 28,739 people and stands at 2,291,982, below 2.3 million for the first time since January 2008.
In Spain as a whole, female unemployment decreased in June by 15,801 women, standing at 1,388,309, the lowest figure since August 2008. Likewise, unemployment among those under 25 years of age fell by 5,155 people, to 159,800 young people, the lowest level of the entire historical series.
The registered unemployment fell in June in 11 autonomous communities and, in year-on-year terms, unemployment fell in Spain by 113,981 people, 4.74% less than a year ago. During the month, 1,649,394 contracts were registered, of which 683,861 were indefinite, representing 41.46% of the total contracting.
