- Coordinated the security plan for the patron saint’s festivities, which will be held from 10 to 14 September
The delegate of the Government in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre; has co-chaired today the Local Security Board of Algete; together with the mayor of the municipality, Fernando Romo Rapaso. The meeting has served to analyze the crime rates of the town and coordinate the special device for the patron saint’s parties in September.
Representatives of the team of Municipal Government, Civil Guard, Local Police, Civil Protection and the Community of Madrid have also participated in the session.
In relation to the safety indicators analyzed, corresponding to the first quarter of 2026, Algete records a crime rate more than 10 points below the average of the Community of Madrid. In this regard, the government delegate has recognized “the work of coordination and effectiveness” of the Local Police and the Civil Guard; and has thanked “the willingness of the municipality to cooperate that materializes this defense of institutional respect, institutional loyalty, as a basis to work together in favor of neighbors.”
For his part, the mayor has valued the meeting as “very constructive” and has stressed that “thanks to the action of the Security Forces and the collaboration of the Local Police we have seen again that Algete is a safe town in which our neighbors can be relatively calm and satisfied with the work that all these public servants do for their benefit.”
Special device for the patron saint's parties
The Local Security Board has also validated the security plan for the patron festivities of the Christ of Hope that will be held from Thursday 10 to Monday 14 September.
The operation will be made up of Civil Guard troops and Local Police officers who will be deployed in a coordinated manner to ensure the safety of neighbors and visitors during the celebration program. In addition to the traditional enclosures, the Plaza de la Constitución will be one of the epicenters of the celebration, with concerts and verbenas, among other activities.
Incorporation into the VioGén system
Finally, the government delegate took advantage of the meeting to request once again the incorporation of Algete into the Comprehensive Monitoring System in cases of Gender Violence, VioGén.
Martín Aguirre explained that this is “a request that we have been making so that all municipalities with more than eight local police officers use all the instruments at their disposal to protect victims of gender violence in a more effective way” and thanked “the positive response from the mayor and the fact that we will be able to work to study this possible incorporation in the coming months”.
