Precepts on languages of the Basque statute.
Article 6
1. The Basque language, a language typical of the Basque People, will have the character of Spanish as an official language in the Basque Country, and all its inhabitants have the right to know and use both languages.
2. the common institutions of the Autonomous Community, taking into account the socio-linguistic diversity of the Basque Country, shall guarantee the use of both languages, regulating their official character, and shall arbitrate and regulate the measures and means necessary to ensure their knowledge.
3. No one may be discriminated against on the basis of their language.
4. The Royal Academy of the Basque Language-Euskaltzaindia is an official consultative institution as far as the Basque language is concerned.
5. Being the Basque heritage of other Basque territories and communities, in addition to the links and correspondence maintained by academic and cultural institutions, the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country may request the Spanish Government to conclude and present, where appropriate, to the Cortes General, for their authorization, the treaties or agreements that allow the establishment of cultural relations with the States where those territories and communities are integrated or resident, in order to safeguard and promote the Basque language.

Article 35
1. The appointment of the Magistrates, Judges and Secretaries will be carried out in the manner provided in the Organic Laws of the Judiciary and the General Council of the Judicial Power, with preferential merit being knowledge of Basque Foral Law and that of the Basque Country, without any exception being established due to nature or neighbourhood.

Within its territory, the Autonomous Community shall be responsible for the provision of personnel in the service of the Administration of Justice and the material and economic means necessary for its operation, in the same terms as reserving such power to the Government in the Organic Law of the Judicial Power, preferentially assessing, in personnel provision systems, knowledge of Basque and Basque Foral Law.

3.
