- Issues related to the public order system that will be organized during the Patron Saint’s Festivities of San Marcos have been discussed
San Martín de la Vega maintains the positive trend consolidated in the year 2025 of reduction in its levels of deliquence so far in 2026, as has been found in the Local Security Board of the municipality that has been held today in the Unified Security Center, which translates into a crime rate that is 20 points below the average of the Community of Madrid.
The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, who co-chaired the meeting with the mayor, Rafael Martínez, convened for the purpose of preparing security for the patron saint’s festivities of San Marcos, has pointed out the “extraordinary security data” with which San Martín de la Vega closed 2025, a 25% reduction in crime and, specifically, a 16% reduction in conventional crime, and a 44% in cybercrime.
In this way, the upturn in data experienced in 2024 was reversed, proof that the measures put in place worked and went in the right direction, which has also allowed crimes against heritage, which are among those that generate the greatest social alarm, to fall by 30% in 2025 and add up to 22% more fall so far in 2026.
Francisco Martín also highlighted the “important commitment of the Government of Spain” for security in San Martín de la Vega, which has resulted, among other things, in the arrival of a dozen new agents to reinforce the 3rd Civil Guard company that is based in the locality.
Device for the festivities of San Marcos
In the Board, in which members of the Municipal Corporation, the Civil Guard, Local Police and Civil Protection have participated, and which has not been attended by any representative from the Community of Madrid, the device of citizen security and public order for the festivities of San Marcos, which start on April 19, has been reviewed.
Francisco Martín wanted to take advantage of this Board to reiterate his gratitude to the municipality for having initiated the procedures for its full incorporation into the system of protection and monitoring of women victims of gender violence VioGén, and has invited its Local Police to participate in the next workshop of good practices organized by the Government Delegation.
