The Ministry of Finance has today communicated to the Autonomous Communities and Cities of Ceuta and Melilla the account deliveries they will receive from the autonomous financing system in the year 2027. The territories as a whole will receive 170,529 million euros next year, 8.1% more than in 2026, the highest figure ever recorded. Since the beginning of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, the autonomous communities have seen improvements every year in the funding they receive from the central administration.
If the model’s liquidation is added, the total resources amount to 185,593 million, 9.1% more than 2026. A historic transfer that would be further increased if the new funding model were approved. In the case of Asturias, its deliveries on account will increase to 4,238 million, 6.5% more than in 2026. If the 2025 liquidation forecast is added to this figure, the total funding rises to 4,398 million. That is, a 5.5% higher compared to the previous exercise. The Asturian Government has never had so many resources.
The Minister of Finance, Arcadi Spain, stressed that these payments demonstrate “the Government’s commitment to the financial sustainability of the Autonomous Communities” and recalled that this volume of historical resources must serve to strengthen their public services and the welfare state. In addition, Arcadi Spain points out that the increase in resources is a consequence of the good economic policy of the Government, which has allowed to reduce unemployment below 10% for the first time in 18 years and to lead the growth of the large economies of the EU.
The deliveries on account could be even greater, since the Government has proposed a new system of regional financing that will mean, according to the estimated data for 2027, an additional 248 million for Asturias. In addition, a historical cancellation of the regional debt, which for Asturias amounts to 1,508 million, is currently being processed by Parliament. Once again, the Minister of Finance has extended his hand to all the Autonomous Communities to carry forward the reform of the financing model and has regretted that those governed by the Popular Party have so far refused to negotiate.
