- The government delegate, Francisco Martín, wanted to recognize the municipality’s step forward in favor of its security and the fight against gender violence
The City of Pelayos de la Presa has today constituted its Local Security Board in whose first session has proceeded to its accession to the Protocol of collaboration and coordination between the State Security Forces and Bodies and the Local Police Corps for the protection of victims of domestic and gender violence.
With this, and with the signing of the Protocol of Coordination and Collaboration with the Civil Guard and the constitution of the police coordination table, the Consistory has completed the essential initial procedures for its incorporation of a comprehensive system of monitoring and protection of victims of gender violence VioGén.
The constitutive session was chaired by the delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, and the mayor of the municipality, Antonio Sin. Members of the municipal government team, representatives of the Civil Guard and Local Police, and of the Community of Madrid have also participated.
Francisco Martín wanted to thank the Consistory for the “step forward” in favor of security that it has given with the constitution of this Board, a tool of cooperation and coordination between the Public Administrations (State, Autonomous Community and City Council) to analyze citizen security and coordinate the police forces of the municipality.
It also wished to acknowledge the commitment it expresses in its fight against gender-based violence represented by the accession to the Protocol of the Ministry of the Interior and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, on March 13, 2006, and the willingness repeatedly shown by the Civil Guard to make these processes possible in this and other municipalities of the Community of Madrid. To this is added the work carried out by the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation to make it possible for more and more municipalities to join the system. “Hopefully this region will become the first Autonomous Community of Spain in which all municipalities with sufficient Local Police are fully incorporated into the VioGén system, a system that saves lives,” he stressed.
Security data
The Board has also analyzed the security data of the municipality, whose crime rate in 2025 was established at 57.28 points, which has meant a decrease of 1.88 points in relation to the rate of 2024.
The evolution of the data in the period since 2026 has also been reviewed, where there has been a rise in crime, especially in crimes against heritage. In this regard, the government delegate wanted to point out that this increase is explained, on the one hand, by the emergence of some crimes as a result of the reinforcement of certain police services and, on the other, because, as these are small absolute figures, any variation represents a large percentage difference.
