- The municipality will celebrate from 26 to 31 August its patron saint’s festivities in honor of the Most Holy Christ of Agony.
- The town will replace the fireworks with a drone show to avoid forest risks after the emergency suffered this summer.
The Subdelegate of the Government to the Community of Madrid, Pilar Trinidad Núñez, and the Mayor of Robledo de Chavela, Fernando Casado Quijada, co-chaired today the Local Security Board in which the special device planned to guarantee security during the patron saint’s holidays has been coordinated.
The municipality will celebrate its festivities in honor of the Most Holy Christ of the Agony from August 26 to 31, although with previous activities since two days before. The central days will officially start with the meeting of rocks and the proclamation, giving way to a varied programming that includes concerts, a show of drones, charangas, contests and the traditional popular caldereta, among other proposals.
The meeting has made it possible to analyze the festive programming and define the resources to ensure its normal development. The operation will have the reinforcement of Civil Guard agents who will work in close coordination with the Local Police, Civil Protection and the different municipal and emergency services. The deployment of troops will intensify in multitudinous events such as the concerts of Henry Méndez, Social Security or the Panorama Orchestra.
Returning to normality after the fires
As the main preventive measure after the fires suffered this summer, the City Council has decided to eliminate the traditional pyrotechnic shows that it will replace with an exhibition of drones.
The subdelegate of the Government has welcomed this initiative and has been interested in the evolution of the reconstruction tasks and the gradual return to normality of the municipality, one of the 17 affected by the serious fires in the Sierra Oeste at the end of July forcing its eviction for six days.
