- The volume of water stored in the reservoirs of the Alberche River will undergo changes with respect to the usual values at this time of year on the occasion of the emergency works in the dams of Burguillo (Ávila), Picadas (Madrid) and Cazalegas (Toledo).
- The reservoirs of Madrid have been, and will be, affected by the continuation of emergency declared by the avenues of 2025.
- The Picadas reservoir regains its levels, although in October works will be executed again.
The Tajo Hydrographic Confederation (CHT), an autonomous body attached to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, has reported on the water levels expected this summer in the dams of the Alberche River, among which are two dams in Madrid. The flow of these dams has been affected as a result of the emergency works declared by the ministry for the repair of the gates of the dams of Burguillo (Ávila), Picadas (Madrid) and Cazalegas (Toledo), as well as the relief of the dam of Cazalegas.
Thus, in the San Juan reservoir, in order to proceed with the lowering of the level of the Burguillo reservoir, the levels in the San Juan reservoir will be elevated with respect to the previous years. It should be noted that this reservoir is called by some as the beach of Madrid.
As for the Picadas reservoir (Madrid), since May 30, the level of the reservoir has begun to recover and the usual level of exploitation of 517.20 meters above sea level will be reached on June 3, leaving spare parts for all the services affected. During the summer months the work will continue with the repair of the chains of the floodgates, according to the expected schedule of execution of the works. On October 1, the dam level will be lowered again to continue with the pending works.
