- The investment reaches 1,846,911.09 euros and will allow an energy saving of 85%, among other improvements
Francisco Martín visits the Municipal Occupational Center ‘Carlos Castilla del Pino’, remodeled with European Funds

The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, visited today the Municipal Occupational Center of Alcorcón ‘Carlos Castilla del Pino’, in whose remodeling more than 1.8 million are going to be invested from the European Funds coming from the Mechanism for Recovery and Resilience.
Accompanied by the mayor of Alcorcón, Candelaria Testa; the first deputy mayor, Miguel Ángel González; and the councilor for Social Services and Disability, Pilar Jiménez, has checked the progress of the works, which began in November, and how they have been managed to combine with the normal activity of the center, which has 103 students.
“The impetus represented by the European Funds is transforming our country and also Madrid”, he defended, while highlighting that they allow the students of this center of Alcorcón “to improve their comfort conditions and their training”. All this thanks to an investment “that the Government of Spain made possible”.
The planned interventions include:
• Envelope insulation: Exterior thermal insulation systems (SATE) will be installed on all facades and roofs.
• Locksmithing in windows and doors: replacement of the current carpentry shops incorporating the most advanced in terms of insulation, folding and oscillating type windows with thermal bridge breakage.
• Lighting: replacement of the current luminaires.
• Passive solar protection elements of the building: exterior sunshades will be installed in all the façade openings.
• Air-conditioning of the building: the current conventional system will be replaced by heating and cooling systems using air-water heat pumps.
• Renewable energy: installation of photovoltaic panels.
• Accessibility: the architectural barriers of the center will be eliminated.
The completion of the works is scheduled for May 25, 2026. In addition to these works, the municipality of Alcorcón has received European Funds with which it has been able to implement a plan of rehabilitation of homes, new pedestrian transits and bike lanes, and already has committed about 1.5 billion euros for improvements in the C-5 line of Neighbourhoods.
Occupational Center for People with Intellectual Disability
The Municipal Occupational Center of Alcorcón “Carlos Castilla del Pino” is part of the public network of care for adults with disabilities of the Community of Madrid and serves more than 100 users.
It offers a daytime care program for people with mild intellectual disability, working from the personal area, emancipation, job placement, occupational and also care for family members and relatives.
He teaches Screen Printing, Carpentry, Ceramics, Binding, Manipulation or Gardening workshops for people with disabilities, in addition to his services of psychosocial care, work orientation, stimulation, psychomotricity and sports.
