The Government Delegation in the Community in Madrid has joined the commemorative events of the Open Administration Week, with an Open Day in which about twenty citizens have been able to know the main functions of the agency and the most emblematic spaces of its main headquarters in Madrid: the Borghetto Palace.
The participants were received by the Government’s sub-delegate in Madrid, Pilar Trinidad Núñez, and the Secretary General, Inés Represa Cuevas, who highlighted the extensive work that the Delegation undertakes beyond its most visible facets. “In addition to the coordination of the Security Forces and Bodies or the demonstrations, there are a lot of services to the citizen that we are very proud to publicize,” said the deputy delegate.
Citizens' rights and freedoms
After the institutional welcome, the activity has begun with the projection of an explanatory video on the functions of the delegation to guarantee the exercise of various citizen rights and freedoms. Through concrete examples, far-reaching actions have been explained, such as attention to the migrant population, emergency management, the fight against male violence or citizen security. Also common procedures for any citizen such as the approval of academic degrees; vaccines for international travel or various administrative authorizations.
Then, the attendees have been able to know the most emblematic parts of the Borghetto Palace. Designed in 1919 by the architect Ignacio Aldama Elorz as the residence of the first Marquises of Borghetto, this palacete of French influence has three floors organized around a covered central patio and an imposing facade with monumental balconies. Inside, spaces such as the Pink Room, the Chapel, the Assembly Hall, the Tapestry Room or the Oriental Cabinet, the delegate’s current office, have been visited.
For an Open Administration
The Open Day is part of the celebration of Open Administration Week, an initiative coordinated and promoted by the General Directorate of Public Governance, with the collaboration of the Open Government Forum, which aims to organize events to bring Public Administrations closer to citizens, based on the principles of Open Government: transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and collaboration. In 2026 it is celebrated from 18th to 25th May.
