The Delegation of the Government of Spain in Madrid, in accordance with the criteria transferred by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy, through the Secretary of State for Labour, recommends to companies, public administrations, entities and working people to plan in advance the organization of the work activity and assess, whenever possible, the use of remote work between June 3 and 9 in which conditions relevant to mobility may occur on the occasion of the visit of His Holiness the Pope to Madrid.
This recommendation is particularly aimed at those workplaces located in areas that may be affected by security devices, traffic restrictions, access limitations, occasional traffic cuts or recommendations to avoid unnecessary travel.
The Government Delegation recalls that, in those cases in which security or mobility measures may hinder access to workplaces, it is recommended that companies and employers facilitate remote work whenever the activity allows it and there are the necessary technical means to develop it. This recommendation is formulated in line with the criteria transferred by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy to reduce unnecessary displacement and promote mobility during the days referred to. In this sense, it is recalled that art. 37.3 g) of the consolidated text of the Law on the Status of Workers provides for such mode of provision of services in this type of situation, observing the formal and material obligations provided for in Law 10/2021, of 9 July, on remote work.
Likewise, the Government Delegation recommends that citizens preferentially use public transport, plan trips in advance and avoid those that are not essential for the center of Madrid, especially in the areas and time slots that may be affected by the security and mobility device.
The objective of these recommendations is to protect the safety of working people and citizens, reduce unnecessary travel, facilitate mobility in the city and contribute to the normal development of services, economic activity and the events planned during the visit.
Therefore, it is recommended that employers and workers take the necessary organizational measures as a preventive measure, including the possibility of voluntarily agreeing remote work during the schedules or days in which greater incidences in mobility can be registered.
