The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, coordinated this Monday the forces and security bodies involved in the special device to control the Entrudio 2026 of Viana do Bolo in its premiere as Festival of National Tourist Interest. The celebration will take place from the 5th to the 18th of February and more influx is expected at the Fiesta de la Androlla on the 15th and Carnival Tuesday, the 17th.
Eladio Santos co-presidiu with the mayor of Viana do Bolo, Germán García-Ávila, the municipality’s Xunta Local de Seguridad common, in which security at parties, the evolution of criminality, data on gender violence and the Master Plan for coexistence and improvement of security in schools and their environments were addressed. The head of the Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Subdelegation in Ourense, Alida Iglesias, and representatives of the Xunta, the Local Police and the Civil Guard also participated in the meeting.
The subdelegate encouraged the citizens to enjoy the traditional festival of Entrudio, in which an increase in attendance is expected over previous years due to its recent declaration as a Festival of National Tourist Interest. Therefore, he called for compliance with the established rules for the proper functioning of the programming and to have a good time "with prudence and responsibility".
With regard to citizen security, the Civil Guard reviewed the statistical data on crime in the municipality of Viana do Bolo, in which it highlights the reduction of serious crimes by more than 12% in 2025 compared to 2024. "This is a safe and quiet municipality, an example of coexistence, so I want to congratulate the Civil Guard for its delivery," said the deputy delegate.
Gender Violence
As for the data on gender violence, in the municipality of Viana do Bolo there are 6 active cases, the same number as in the previous Local Security Board held a year ago, and in Vilariño de Conso there is one active case, one less than the previous year. With respect, Eladio Santos regretted that "violence against women continues to be a serious and structural problem, the eradication of which requires the involvement of the whole society and the different public administrations."
Master Plan
With respect to the review of the statistics relating to the Master Plan, the Civil Guard offered nine talks in the municipality during the current school year, attended by about 200 students from secondary education and 60 from primary education. The most requested topics were the prevention of addictive behaviors and cyberbullying.
